Ijeoma Intelligence develops safety intelligence for people and organisations operating in complex and changing risk environments.

Initially focused on Nigeria, we are building systems designed for environments where risk, movement and connectivity can change quickly.

The Role

We are looking for a Data & ML Engineer to help build and strengthen the data systems that support Ijeoma’s intelligence products.

You will work closely with the founder and engineering team across backend systems, data pipelines, machine learning and geospatial services.

This role requires someone who can work independently, make sound technical decisions and build production systems that are reliable, secure and maintainable.

What You’ll Work On

• Build and maintain backend and data systems supporting Ijeoma’s intelligence products.
• Develop reliable pipelines for collecting, processing, validating and structuring data from multiple sources.
• Build and deploy machine-learning capabilities from defined product and intelligence requirements.
• Support geospatial and real-time data services used across Ijeoma products.
• Improve data quality, reliability, observability and system performance.
• Contribute to enterprise-facing data services and internal engineering tools.
• Work with the wider engineering team to maintain secure and dependable production systems.

Detailed technical specifications and system architecture will be shared with shortlisted or engaged candidates under NDA.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong backend engineering experience with production systems.
• Strong Python proficiency.
• Experience designing and working with relational, document or distributed databases.
• Experience building data pipelines and data-processing systems.
• Practical experience developing, deploying or maintaining machine-learning models.
• Experience working with APIs and production backend services.
• Comfort working with geospatial data, event-driven systems or real-time applications.
• Strong understanding of security, access control and responsible data handling.
• Ability to work independently and make practical architectural decisions.

Useful Experience

• Experience building or supporting an enterprise software platform.
• Experience with safety, security, intelligence, logistics or other operational systems.
• Experience with large-scale data acquisition or data-quality systems.
• Experience building technology for emerging-market or low-connectivity environments.

Working Arrangement

You will work closely with the founder and wider engineering team. The engagement may be extended based on performance and evolving company requirements.
